EUC Rowing 2026 comes to an end: University of Zagreb crowned Best University

The final day of the European Universities Rowing Championships 2026 in Zagreb brought an exciting conclusion to four days of competition at Lake Jarun, with student-athletes from across Europe battling for the final medals of the championship.

The morning session opened with the Men M4-, where the University of Zagreb claimed gold in 6:19.14, finishing ahead of the University of Mainz and Oxford Brookes University.

In the Men M4x, Dresden University of Technology took gold, followed by West Pomeranian University Szczecin and Reading University. The Women W2- title went to Copenhagen University, with University of Paris taking silver and University of Nottingham bronze.

The Women W1x final saw a Croatian victory, as RIT Croatia crossed the finish line first in 7:58.17, ahead of Széchenyi István University and University of Tartu. In the Men M2-, University of Vienna claimed gold, while University of Split secured silver and Turin Polytechnic bronze.

The Men M2x title went to Vytautas Magnus University, followed by Latvia University of Agriculture and University of Stuttgart, while the M/W 8+ final brought another gold for the University of Zagreb, with University of Lorrainetaking silver and Technical University of Munich bronze.

The afternoon session continued with exciting racing. In the Men LM1x, University of Technology of Compiègne won gold, followed by University of Belgrade and University of Porto. The Women LW2x title went to Masaryk University, with The Queens University of Belfast taking silver and Reading University bronze.

In the Women W4x, University of Zagreb added another gold medal to its collection, finishing in 7:00.25 ahead of University of Lorraine and Technical University of Munich. The Men LM2- title went to University of Aveiro, followed by The Queens University of Belfast and Széchenyi István University.

The Men M1x final saw Reading University take gold, with University of Latvia winning silver and Vytautas Magnus University bronze. In the Women W2x, Reading University claimed another gold, while University of Split took silver and University of Toulouse bronze.

The final race of the championship, the Men M8+, delivered another thrilling finish. Oxford Brookes University claimed gold in 6:03.64, with the University of Zagreb taking silver in 6:05.75 and University of Bristol bronze in 6:07.48.

With the final medals awarded, the University of Zagreb was crowned the Best University of EUC Rowing 2026, finishing the championship with an impressive six medals — five gold and one silver.

The final races brought four days of exciting competition at Lake Jarun to an end. EUC Rowing 2026 officially closed with the handover of the EUSA flag to Hungary, the host of the 2027 edition.
